LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a man is in critical condition after an officer-involved shooting in Las Vegas.

Police say the incident happened about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday near Rancho and Vegas drives.

Officers say a man had tried to pass counterfeit money at a 7-11 store, and then fled to a nearby Dotty's casino. Police say that after they caught up with him, the man pulled out a gun.

That's when police say they shot him.

Police Capt. Csaba Maczala (CHA'-buh mick-ZAH'-luh) tells KVVU-TV the suspect was wanted in Ohio and had a history of attempting "suicide by cop."

The incident was the second officer-involved shooting for the department in two days.
