LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Gov. Rick Snyder has declared March as colorectal cancer awareness month in Michigan.
In a statement, the governor says the observance will help highlight the prevalence and severity of the disease and provide opportunities to educate state residents on the importance of early detection and screening.
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer as well as one of the most deadly.
The state Department of Community Health offers a Colorectal Cancer Early Detection Program. It provides outreach and colorectal cancer education, individualized risk assessment and screening to eligible 50- to 64-year-old men and women throughout the state.
