MONROE, La. (AP) — A former DeSoto Parish School Board member has been moved to a halfway house as his sentence for distributing cocaine nears an end.
The Times reports (http://bit.ly/1ooEePN ) Bartholomew Claiborne, of Mansfield, was moved March 1 to City of Faith, a halfway house or residential center that aids inmates before their incarceration ends. He had been at the Oakdale Federal Detention Center since July 1.
Claiborne was sentenced to a year and a day in prison and three years of supervised release for the drug charge. A federal grand jury indicted him on 14 counts of selling crack cocaine and prescription drugs during an undercover sting October 2011 through July 2012.
A spokeswoman with the U.S. Probation and Parole office in Shreveport said Claiborne's release date is listed as May 12.
