SALT LAKE CITY — Tyler Rawson and Ryan Andrus combined for 30 points and 18 rebounds to lead American Fork to a dominant 72-42 win over Viewmont in the first round of the 5A state tournament.

Rawson finished with a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) and was active on both sides of the court, throwing down three dunks and blocking six shots. He also had six assists to lead the Cavemen.

McKay Butler led Viewmont with 11 points, but the Vikings played from behind from the start. They trailed 20-8 after the first quarter and could never climb back into the game.

They struggled with just 23.6 percent shooting from the field while American Fork shot 55 percent.

The Cavemen advance to Thursday’s quarterfinals where they will play Brighton.
