BOSTON (AP) — Students, faculty and staff from public colleges and universities across Massachusetts will talk one-on-one with state lawmakers about higher education funding at the 2014 Advocacy Day.
The program, which will be held Wednesday in Gardner Auditorium at the State House, will focus on continuing Gov. Deval Patrick's 50/50 education budget proposal, which passed in 2013 and marked an increase in financial aid.
Advocates say a continuation of the program would mean appropriating an additional $40 million to the University of Massachusetts system, $20 million to community colleges, $15 million to state universities and $9 million to the state scholarship program.
