DALLAS (AP) — Mavericks rookie guard Gal Mekel is ready to return after missing nearly two months with a knee injury and will play at least two games in the NBA Development League.
Mekel had surgery in January to repair a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee. He last played Jan. 13 against Orlando and is set to join the Texas Legends for a pair of home games in the Dallas suburb of Frisco.
The 26-year-old Mekel is the second Israeli player in the NBA. He spent two seasons at Wichita State from 2006-08 before beginning his professional career in his home country.
Mekel is averaging 2.4 points and 2.1 assists in 30 games, with one start, for Dallas.
