BOISE, Idaho (AP) — At least 105 gay rights demonstrators filled the Capitol's basement corridor seeking to convince lawmakers to update the Idaho Human Rights Act with discrimination protections based on gender identity and sexual orientation. Action was organized again by former Idaho state Sen. Nicole LeFavour, a Boise Democrat. Republican lawmakers have ruled out a hearing on their demands.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A lawmaker who says homeowner associations too often levy unfair and excessive fines against residents is pushing back with a bill that passed the Senate Commerce and Human Resources Committee. Sen. Jim Rice, a Republican from Caldwell and the bill's sponsor, wants HOA boards to have a majority vote with 30 days' notice before handing out a fine. Some homeowner association managers were concerned that gives rule-breaking residents a loophole to dodge penalties.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Federal hunters are pursuing one or two wolves blamed for killing a horse in central Idaho this month. The Idaho Mountain Express reports a colt belonging to Kevin and Jennifer Swigert was killed Feb. 13. The director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Services in Idaho said one or two wolves are responsible for the colt's death.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A third Mexican national has pleaded guilty to growing thousands of marijuana plants on public lands in Idaho. The U.S. attorney's office says 40-year-old Carlos Cerda-Carpio pleaded guilty Monday to a federal charge of unlawfully manufacturing more than 1,000 marijuana plants with intent to distribute and illegal possession of a firearm.
