LIVERPOOL, England, May 31, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A 19-year-old woman in England has admitted to faking her kidnapping to gain the attention of her boyfriend.
A court in Liverpool heard how the woman pretended she had been grabbed by a gang of men and held against her will. She turned up safe several days later but police did not believe her story when she was interviewed, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The woman confessed fabricating the story and pleaded guilty to wasting police time. The police investigation had even led to the arrest of her boyfriend on suspicion of kidnap before he was released.
The woman is out on bail. She is to be sentenced in June.
