WASHINGTON (AP) - The Republican National Committee raised almost $81 million last year and has $9 million banked for this year's elections.
The RNC also says it's debt-free. That's according to reports filed Friday with the Federal Election commission.
Reince Priebus (ryns PREE'-bus) is RNC chairman. Priebus says his party easily outraised Democrats last year and enters 2014 in a position of strength and on solid financial footing.
Much of the RNC's spending was on technology and hiring operatives outside Washington.
The RNC is trying to rebuild after losing back-to-back presidential elections.
