CHICAGO (AP) - Heavy snow is forecast for northern and central Illinois on Saturday.

The National Weather Service says that as much as seven inches could fall in some areas, with winding gusting to as high as 25 mph.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says plows and weather crews on standby to deal with the snow.

And IDOT Secretary Ann Schneider warns motorist to prepare for the possibility of blowing and drifting snow that could reduce visibility.

She also warns drivers to beware of plows and to give them plenty of room to maneuver.

The agency also reminds those who will be on the road of the 2002 "Move Over" law. It requires motorists to slow down or, if possible, to change lanes when emergency vehicles are displaying flashing lights.
