GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands (AP) - Authorities in the Cayman Islands say a missing diver from North Carolina is presumed dead but they are still searching for his body.

Police say David Byles of Pinehurst, North Carolina, was last seen Sunday during an organized dive at Barracuda Wall off Grand Cayman's Seven Mile Beach. The 57-year-old tourist disappeared while he swam back to the dive boat with his wife.

Police Inspector Ian Yearwood said Tuesday that it is "clear to everyone involved that it's now extremely unlikely that Mr. Byles will be found alive." He says police have shared their concerns with the missing man's wife.

Byles' scuba tank, buoyancy control device and an article of his clothing were found in the water Monday.

Thirteen divers and 15 police personnel are continuing the search.
