Getting rid of your Christmas Tree

Now that Christmas is over what do you do with your Christmas tree? Here are the disposal area's for some of the major cities and counties in Utah. For those living elsewhere, they should call there city office or county government waste management for more information. In all cases, recyclers will not accept flocked trees and require lights, tinsel and ornaments be removed.

There are drop-off points all over Cache county. Drop-off points can be found at logancity.org under the treecycle program hyperlink.

o Cache County waste management (1400 N 200 W, Logan) accepts all green waste including Christmas trees free of charge.

· The Weber County compost facility (2616 W Pioneer Rd., Slaterville) charges $1 per tree or $3 per pickup truck load.

· Davis County Green Waste Facility (1997 East 3500 North, Layton) is accepting Christmas trees and other green waste free of charge.

o Layton City will collect trees from residences on regular garbage pickup days throughout January.

o Clearfield will do the same January 16-27. · Salt Lake City, many other cities within the county and Salt Lake County itself offer free curbside pickup or have tree drop-off points. Contact particular cities for pickup dates or where trees can be dropped off.

· Utah County: o Orem has multiple drop-off points at city parks. See the city website.

o Provo City is offering curbside pickup. See the city website.

o The County landfill (2000 w 200 S, Linden) accepts trees for $4 each.
