Holiday Spirit Do you feel renewed or exhausted and stressed?

Christmas carols are playing and the smell of gingerbread wafts strong. Families and friends are sharing memories, time and love. Or are you the person who is exhausted, in a funk, and feel lost in all the stress? I really didn't want to put up the lights this year. We could be the only dark spot on the block right? We could just enjoy the reflections of all the neighbors' lights. I tried to talk the kids out of it. We could save time, money, and energy; all that could gives us a better holiday. That was a no go! So I sacrificed life and limb to climb up the ladder to put up all those lights. That was stressful. Do I want to be known as the guy who died putting up the lights? I love Christmas, and all the festivities, yet even going to see the lights at Temple Square when it was freezing and uncomfortable is stressful. How do we overcome the downer of the season and find the joy? Memories can be good or bad. Maybe no work, or a loss of a loved one, or even our expectations of what it should be, can contribute to the stress and hard feelings.

What are the keys to joy and pure peace? Is it possible to keep the spirit and not fall into a funk? Dr. Matt Townsend
