All morning long while reporting I've been conscious of my new red shoes. I write a story, I look down. I finish a story, I flex my foot. I love these shoes! But I'm not sure how much they love me back. Running out to the news car to make it in time for the 6:59 live tease, I realized these new shoes are not the smartest for a reporter. They have a wedge heel - not exactly a running shoe. But radio reporters are often teased for not looking as nice as TV reporters, so I figured I had to do something to look better during interviews and such. I've been asked if I report live in my pajamas because I get to work so early. I've also been asked if go to work in scrubby clothing because "you're on the radio, it doesn't matter, right?" Well, yeah, I think it does matter what you wear wherever you work and at home. I felt great all morning in these new red shoes!
I also like how I match the Elton John red piano on display for a while in KSL's lobby. I picked a good day to wear my red coat, red shoes, and carry my red bag. The piano is awesome! But a big sign next to it says "please don't touch."
By the way to Cleon Wall and all my fellow BYU fans, I hope wearing red doesn't make me less of a Cougar b/c it's the Utah color. Let's just say I celebrate Christmas and Valentine's Day more often than most.
