WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama has offered his condolences to South African President Jacob Zuma (ZOO'-muh) on the death of the Nelson Mandela, the country's former president.
The White House says Obama shared with Zuma how profoundly Mandela's example of moral courage, kindness and humility influenced his own life and the lives of millions of people worldwide. The president also reaffirmed that the partnership between the U.S. and South Africa will continue to draw strength from Mandela's legacy.
Mandela, the former president and political prisoner, died Thursday after a long illness. He was 95.
