Previous Names _ Colored Industrial and Agricultural School; North Louisiana Agricultural and Industrial School; Louisiana Negro Normal and Industrial Institute; Grambling College

Titletown _ 23 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships, 13 National Black College Championships

Coach Rob _ Eddie Robinson coached at Grambling from 1941 (the year of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor) until 1997. He compiled a record of 408-165-15, making him the second-winningest coach in NCAA history. Grambling's stadium is named in his honor. He died in 2007.

Famous Alumni _ Pro Football Hall of Famers Willie Davis, Buck Buchanan, Willie Brown and Charlie Joiner; James "Shack" Harris, the first black starting quarterback in the NFL; Doug Williams, the first black quarterback to win a Super Bowl; Paul "Tank" Younger, the first NFL player from a historically black college; Ernie Ladd, Sammy White, Roosevelt Taylor and Willie Williams.
