KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) - Four police officers in Jamaica have been charged with fatally shooting of pastor Trevor Edwards while he was traveling in a taxi in the capital of Kingston in 2010.

The two male and two female officers pleaded not guilty to murder charges Wednesday. They have said that Edwards was one of several gunmen who opened fire on them. Police officials have said that witnesses dispute the officers' account.

The case was reviewed by an independent commission that investigates allegations of abuse involving Jamaica's security forces. The panel is currently looking at roughly 1,600 cases of alleged abuses, with more than 60 percent involving allegations of fatal shootings, assault and shooting injuries.
