SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Real Salt Lake overcame a one-goal deficit at the half to earn its second straight win with a 2-1 victory over the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday.
Rookie midfielder Mehdi Ballouchy's first MLS goal in the 78th minute tied it at 1, and a daring strike from substitute Jeff Cunningham in the 80th was the game-winner.
It was the second time Cunningham entered as a substitute and found the back the net. He scored two goals in Los Angeles last week after entering the game in the second half.
It was the first home win of the season for Real Salt Lake (2-5-1). Kansas City (4-3-1), meanwhile, dropped its second in a row on the road.
The Wizards are perhaps the most depleted team in Major League Soccer, thanks to World Cup call-ups. Forwards Josh Wolff and Eddie Johnson are with the U.S. national team in advance of the June tournament, and so is defender Jimmy Conrad.
Ryan Pore scored on a counterattack in the 27th minute to give Kansas City the early lead. Real Salt Lake's defense failed to get back for a ball played through by Davy Arnaud, and Pore touched the ball past RSL goalkeeper Scott Garlick, using the outside of his foot.
