NEW YORK (AP) - Vehicles jumping curbs in two separate accidents killed a total of three pedestrians Monday in New York City.

A chain-reaction crash killed a woman and injured three other people around 1 p.m. in Manhattan's East Harlem neighborhood when a taxi struck a truck and sent it onto a sidewalk.

Police released no further details.

Hours earlier, a 22-year-old driver in Queens hit a phone booth, lamp post and parked cars before jumping the curb. Two men were fatally injured as they walked along the sidewalk.

The driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
