SALT LAKE CITY — Thursday the Utah Grizzlies made an early-season trade: head coach/general manager Tim Branham acquired two forwards from the Cincinnati Cyclones. Mathieu Aubin and Michael Pelech were traded to the Grizzlies for future considerations.

Aubin has been a part of two Kelly Cup Championships in Cincinnati, in 2008 and 2010. The Cyclones are not the only championship team he has played for; he won the Calder Cup Championship in 2009 with the AHL Hamilton.

Drafted in 2005 by Montreal, Aubin brings 125 goals and 184 assists from 346 ECHL games; he was named ECHL’s Plus Performer of the Year in 2011-2012. Last year he had a great season, with 18 goals and 28 assists for 56 games in 67 games.

During Pelech's two years in Cincinnati, he scored 29 goals and 77 assists. In 2009 he was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings, and he spent time with the Ontario Reign from 2008 to 2010, during which he battled the Grizzlies. He also played 18 games in the AHL with Connecticut, Peoria and Worcester.

The Grizzlies are back in action at the Maverik Center on Friday when they start their five-game home stand taking on the Reign. Follow David Winkworth on Twitter @Davito23. You can listen to David on his sports talk show at www.sportsathome.webs.com.
