NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - Illinois State basketball player Daishon Knight has pleaded guilty to punching a woman and resisting arrest. He has also been reinstated to the basketball team.

The Pantagraph newspaper in Bloomington reports ( http://bit.ly/1fmWCGe) that Knight pleaded guilty Thursday to misdemeanor battery and resisting arrest in an Aug. 25 incident.

Knight was sentenced to 24 months conditional discharge and 100 hours community service.

Coach Dan Muller said a short time later that Knight was back on the team and will be able to play in Friday's season-opener at Virginia Commonwealth. Muller said Knight had done everything he'd been asked to earn his spot back.

Knight had been suspended from play.

Knight is a junior from Baltimore, Md. This will be his first season at Illinois State after playing at Odessa (Texas) College.
