(AP) - Rafael Nadal says he won't play at next week's Swiss Indoors because he's exhausted and needs to regain his strength.

The tournament begins Monday in Basel. On Friday, the top-ranked Spaniard posted on his Facebook page that he's "sorry to announce" that he won't be playing. He added that he's spent some "very exhausting weeks" and he has to "regroup my fitness and my body." He says he'll try to play the Swiss Indoors next year.

Nadal was sidelined for seven months after hurting his left knee in the summer of 2012. But he came back strong and beat Novak Djokovic to win the U.S. Open for his 13th Grand Slam title.

He has since played in the Davis Cup, lost to Djokovic in the final in Beijing and to Juan Martin del Potro in the semifinals in Shanghai last week.
