WASHINGTON (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton plans to headline a California fundraiser for Terry McAuliffe, a longtime family friend running for governor in Virginia.

The former secretary of state will attend the Beverly Hills fundraiser on Oct. 30. It will be hosted by longtime Clinton donors Haim Saban and his wife Cheryl.

The former first lady has been helping McAuliffe in the final weeks before November's election. She was raising money for McAuliffe in New York on Tuesday and plans to appear at a "Women for Terry" event in Falls Church, Va., on Saturday.

Democrats consider Clinton to be a strong contender for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination should she decide to run.

McAuliffe faces Republican Ken Cuccinelli in the November election.
