ZURICH (AP) - A Bulgarian player who tested positive for banned substances after a World Cup qualifying match has been suspended by FIFA.

FIFA says Thursday the player failed a doping test after Bulgaria's 2-1 win against Malta in Valletta on Sept. 10.

FIFA did not identify the player, but the Bulgarian national association said it was Yordan Minev, a 32-year-old defender.

FIFA said the player was provisionally suspended pending a disciplinary case.
