DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - The LPGA Tour said Wednesday that it will open its season in January for the first time in 13 years, beginning with the Bahamas LPGA Classic on Jan. 23-26.

The inaugural Bahamas event was played in late May this year. The flood-plagued tournament was reduced to three 12-hole rounds.

"After a challenging inaugural year, we are excited to be back at the Ocean Club, preparing for the 2014 Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic," said Jeff Raedle, president of tournament manager Global Golf Management. "The players, fans and television viewers will truly see the event shine to its fullest with the new date."
