SALT LAKE CITY — The NFL is all about tough guys playing a tough sport, but right now Rashad Johnson might be tougher than all of them.
Johnson was playing against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday and his finger hurt a little as he came off the field. When he got to the sideline, he took off his glove and a piece of his finger was still in the glove. Yes, his fingertip, past the first knuckle on his right middle finger, was still in the glove.
Sorry if that is gross, but that's what happened. Johnson had no idea of his injury until he pulled his glove off.
This story is reminiscent of Ronnie Lott’s story. The Hall of Fame safety lost some of his pinky finger and chose to have it cut off instead of missing playing time.
Johnson chose the same path. He had his finger shaved down to the first knuckle and will play next week.
He has said that he isn’t sure exactly when it happened, but a punt return tackle of Darren Sproles seems the likely time.
He later tweeted out a picture of his finger, and it is gross-looking.

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Touchdown:
The Denver Broncos were rolling against the Oakland Raiders on Monday night when the Peyton Manning-led offense got to the 1-yard-line in the fourth quarter.
It was an easy touchdown roll for one of the running backs on the roster: Knowshon Moreno, Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball.
All three wanted to go in to score the touchdown, so they decided to settle it the old-fashioned way: “rock, paper, scissors.”
