LOGAN,Utah (AP) - Chuckie Keeton threw for five first-half touchdowns, gaining 249 yards on 19-of-25 passing in the half, to pace Utah State past in-state rival Weber State 70-6.
Joey DeMartino also ran for three touchdowns, two in the first half, for USU (2-1, 1-0 Mountain West Conference), gaining 105 yards on eight carries over three quarters.
Keeton played only the first half, being replaced by Craig Harrison at the beginning of the third quarter with a 49-0 score. Harrison passed for 71 yards and a touchdown on 4-of-4 passing before being replaced, as well. Harrison's first career touchdown came with 10:13 to play in the third quarter on a 56-yard pass to tight end Keegan Anderson.

Utah State didn't win with big plays; They were methodical and drove the field. Weber State's Spencer Unga recovering a late fumble to stop a shutout for Weber State was the single biggest play of the night.

WSU (1-2) was led by freshman Austin Chipoletti who started his first game as a Wildcat, passing for 34 yards on 12-of-20 attempts. Josh Booker ran for 45 yards on 15 attempts. The lone Weber score came with 50 seconds left in the game after Spencer Unga recovered a high snap mishandled by USU and ran 38 yards for the score.
Keeton tied his personal career record of five touchdown passes in one game with 3:47 to play in the first half, hitting D.J. Tialavea for his second TD reception. Eight different receivers caught a Keeton pass, four different players scoring a touchdown.
Weber State gained its lone first down in the first half with just under three minutes to play on a 16-yard pass from Chipoletti to Cam Livingston, while USU had 19 first downs in the half. The Aggies were able to gain 372 yards of total offense in the first half, while WSU was held to 21.
In the first quarter, Utah State scored on three drives of less than three minutes, then again with only seven seconds off the clock in the second quarter, taking a 28-0 lead. Four of the first five Aggie touchdowns were passing plays from Keeton, while DeMartino ran 11 yards for a score with 6:38 to play in the first quarter and again with a 7-yard run midway through the second quarter. The fourth first-half TD was grabbed by Kyler Fackrell, normally a linebacker for USU, who lined up as a tight end.
Keeton came into the game ranked third in the nation in combined yardage, but ran only five times for 25 yards in this game. USU never punted in the first half, scoring on each possession excepting the final possession as time ran out. Saturday's output was the most points scored by USU since 1964.
