NEWTON, Iowa (AP) - Iowa Speedway CEO Doug Fritz has resigned after two years on the job.

The track announced Fritz's resignation Tuesday, saying he left to pursue another opportunity.

Fritz attended Sunday's NASCAR Camping World Trucks series race, and his resignation became official on Monday.

Fritz, the former president of Richmond International Speedway, took over for Jerry Jauron after the 2011 season.

Iowa president Stan Clement will add the chief executive's duties to his job description.
