DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Three classes in next year's unified sports car series will use Continental Tire, while one category will be open to multiple manufacturers.
United SportsCar Racing announced a deal Wednesday for Continental Tire to be the exclusive provider for Prototype, Prototype Challenge and GT Daytona classes.
The GT Le Mans category will be open to multiple tire manufacturers. That decision was made so the class can compete in the same specifications used at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Continental Tire also will return as title sponsor and exclusive tire supplier of the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge developmental series next season. The CTSCC and United SportsCar Racing will run under IMSA sanctioning, resulting from the merger of GRAND-Am, IMSA and the American Le Mans Series.
