This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

After 23 years of building rocket propulsion materials for Hercules Aerospace Company and ATK Thiokol, Steve Wright was ready for a career change.

He had already spent 11 years running a side business to outfit guided tours and hunting trips, but he wanted something new. As Steve sought out business ventures with his wife, Kimberly, he met a couple from the East coast who ran their own coffee shop. Both of the Wrights enjoy quality coffee and coffee shops so they decided to open their own shop. The result is High Point Coffee, which opened its doors for business in November 2007.

High Point Coffee, located just off Redwood Road in West Jordan, offers a wide range of coffee products in various blends as well as a selection of sandwiches, salads and pastries. In addition to coffee, the shop also has smoothies and lattes. Steve says the shop's highly-trained baristas offer first- class customer service while providing a consistently good product. The shop is geared to offer something for everyone, from students and their friends to families.

Steve says High Point's staff bakes the pastries, cookies and scones from scratch daily. If a customer doesn't find the drink he or she is looking for on the menu, the baristas will concoct it for them. The 10-person crew makes a good team because they work well together.

Although Steve purchased the shop's name from an existing business, the store is independent. Steve came up with the interior design, which includes a cozy fireplace setting, while Kimberly took care of the decorations. Local artwork hangs on the shop's walls.

Running High Point Coffee is a new experience for the Wrights, but Steve says it's been an exciting process. He looks forward to becoming acquainted with many new customers and doing his best to make them happy.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
