ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 10, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- U.S. residents think a major new war is more likely than a woman president over the next 10 years, a new Harris Poll finds.
The poll found that 52 percent think a major new war involving many U.S. soldiers is likely or very likely over the next decade, while 49 percent think a major terrorist attack like those on Sept. 11, 2001, is likely or very likely in the United States. Forty-five percent said they expect Social Security benefits will be eliminated or sharply reduced, and just over one-third -- 35 percent -- said they think it likely or very likely that a woman will become president.
About one in six think a stock market crash like the one that launched the Great Depression in 1929 is likely or very likely over the next 10 years.
The survey was conducted online Harris Interactive between March 17-21.
