I'm filling in morning producing for a little bit until we get someone new. Then I'm back reporting, for my fans who miss me. Anyway, in the meantime we are adding some changes to the news shows. For example, the newscasts that start at :30 past the hour now start with a new open, full of teases and soundbites. My first day putting those all in left me with a huge headache. I felt like a cartoon character whose eyes are bulging out. But today went much better. I'm getting the hang of it. It just means I have to write much faster. You should have seen me at 5:30 AM -- after I had crafted it all, checked every word, loaded the sound into the computer, gave the scripts to Grant and Amanda then hovered outside the studio by our air monitor to hear it play back. It sounded great! I felt like I had given birth. But no time for relaxing, there's a twin! It's called the six o'clock hour, and this one is bigger. Then the seven, then the eight. But I do think it sounds awesome, and I hope you guys enjoy the changes.
