SALT LAKE CITY — The New York Mets are currently 13.5 games behind the lead in the National League East division. It's likely they won't make the playoffs unless something drastic changes. And after Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs, it's not looking good.

In the top of the 5th inning, with two on base, Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano hit a grounder to Mets third baseman David Wright. Wright makes a great diving catch, but doesn't even come close to connecting with first baseman Daniel Murphy. Murphy quickly runs down the ball, throws it to catcher John Buck, but doesn't come close.

Luckily, shortstop Omar Quintanilla is there to save the day, right? Wrong. Quintanilla quickly dumps the ball off to Buck, but once again, doesn't connect.

Fortunately for the Mets, they managed to pull out a victory, beating the Cubs 4-3 on a walk-off home run by Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

Clippers-Celtics blockbuster trade

The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers are rumored to be working on a major trade that would send Kevin Garnett and head coach Doc Rivers to the Clippers in exchange for DeAndre Jordan and a first-round draft pick.

The proposed trade, however, has stalled as a result of the Celtics working to include Eric Bledsoe in the deal, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports. The Clippers simply do not want to give up Bledsoe.

Bledsoe has been a valuable commodity, with several NBA teams looking to acquire the guard in some type of trade scenario. Even the Utah Jazz were rumored to have a pending trade in the works earlier this year.

If the Clippers want Rivers as their head coach badly enough, they might be willing to part with Bledsoe, but it's not looking good for a legitimate trade.

Danny Green makes history

San Antonio Spurs wing Danny Green has made history. Not only is he on a Spurs team that is in control over the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, but he broke a record held by one of the best three-point shooters in the game.

With 9:39 left in the third quarter of Game 5, Green hit his 23rd three-pointer of the series. The made three-pointer broke Ray Allen's record for the most threes in an NBA Finals.

Allen, who was sitting on the bench for the Heat, didn't take the news lightly; his reaction is perfect. All Allen could do was look in dismay as his record was broken and as the Heat saw their chances of winning the Finals drastically decrease.
