BYU Davies in SacTo, KVN Top 10, Evans crazy hops

Salt Lake City — Former BYU center Brandon Davies continues to make appearances around the country as he tries to realize his dream of being drafted into the NBA.

The 6'9", 242-pound Davies played as an under-sized center at BYU, but will be a power forward at the next level.

Last Monday, Davies was working out for the Portland Trailblazers, a week later, Davies finds himself in Sacramento, the stomping grounds of his old teammate Jimmer Fredette.

Davies tweeted: "Hope I run into my hero @jimmerfredette while here in Sac Town for my workout. Maybe even get an autograph.."

That will be especially difficult, since Fredette is vacationing in London (unless Brandon has a workout that we don't know about).

He followed up with, "I didn't get to meet my hero.. But I might have borrowed a couple things. @jimmerfredette."

He worked out with Gonzaga's 6'8" Elias Harris, Akron's 7'0" Zeke Marshall, Minnesota's 6'8" Trevor Mbakwe, Oklahoma's 6' 7" Romero Osby and UCLA's Shabazz Muhammad.

Reports say that he played well against the longer Marshall.

Van Noy cracks a Top 10 list

Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) released his "way too early" NFL draft predictions.

He has Kyle Van Noy going 9th to Arizona.

It's staggering to remember that Ziggy Ansah (5th overall pick) wasn't even on the pundits radar at this time last year.

Jeremy Evans spectacular leap

I'll never forget talking to WPSD in Kentucky when the Jazz drafted Jeremy Evans. No one in the sports department had heard of Evans and I asked WPSD what Evans was like, they said, "I'm not sure how he'll turn out in the NBA, but he's a world-class athlete. I'm talking world-class." At the P3 facility in Santa Barbara, Jeremy Evans continues to wow and impress with his athleticism. Evan's just recorded the highest vertical jump in the training facility's history, 43" vertical, reaching 12' 7.5".

Jazz prospect Shane Larkin jumped 44 inches in the NBA draft combine in Chicago, but as Jazz Vice-President of Player Personnel Walt Perrin observed last week, "You see more, upper 30's and 40's with the smaller players than you do with the big players."

Jeremy Evans stands in a 6'9"
