This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

After settling into your new home, the last thing you want to discover is that someone else has previous claim to the title on your property. This could result in an expensive legal contest that might not end in your favor.

Unfortunately, nightmares like this can and do happen. That's why title insurance is an essential part of any real estate purchase. For the past 14 years, Old Republic Title Company of Utah, with its main office in Provo, has been providing escrow services and issuing title insurance policies that are underwritten by Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, headquartered in Minneapolis.

In Utah, Old Republic provides title and escrow services directly to consumers, lenders, attorneys and real estate agents from St. George to Logan. The company's mission is to protect homeowners and lenders from complications with their titles.

Bob Macdonald, state manager and president of Old Republic Title Company of Utah, says that his operation maintains an in-house title plant where title searches are accurately and efficiently produced. As an attorney with a specialty in real estate, Bob has also become a sought-after authority on many property concerns that arise.

He started working for a title company in 1974 as a way to support himself while attending law school. Later, Bob purchased a portion of the company but sold it in 1984. For the past 17 years, he has led Old Republic Title Company of Utah. He also served as president of the Utah Land Title Association from 2001-2002 and is still very active in the title insurance community.

At Old Republic Title Company of Utah, Bob says he and his staff have the local expertise as well as the title insurance knowledge and experience necessary to solve the most complex title problems. He enjoys helping customers purchase real estate free of unwanted title insurance surprises and errors.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
