INCHEON, South Korea - Michelle Wie shot 3-under 69 on Friday and made the cut at the SK Telecom Open, a men's tournament on the Asian Tour.

"It's just wonderful," Wie, 16, said. "Now I want to play well (today). It's not over yet."

Wie improved on her opening-round 70 by making four birdies and one bogey (at No.16). At 5-under 139, she stood six strokes behind co-leaders Iain Steel of Malaysia and Prom Meesawat of Thailand.

The tournament is the eighth men's pro event for Wie, including four PGA Tour events. She missed the 36-hole cut in her previous seven. No woman has made the cut on the PGA Tour since Babe Zaharias at the 1945 Tucson Open.

Wie is the second woman to make the cut at a men's tournament in South Korea. Se Ri Pak tied for 10th at a lower-tier KPGA Tour event in 2003. Fellow LPGA star Annika Sorenstam became the first woman in 58 years to compete on the PGA Tour when she missed the cut at the 2003 Colonial.

"In the future, I still want to challenge the PGA Tour and make the top 10," said Wie, a Hawaiian whose parents were born in South Korea.

Galleries of at least 1,000 people gathered around each hole Wie played.

"They made so much noise," Wie said. "It made me laugh a bit."
