He had been in the TV business for several years when changes started happening at the company he worked for. Two friends had just started a business, one thing lead to another, and they brought Guy on board to help run the business. This became TID Demolition, based in North Salt Lake.
TID Demolition specializes in commercial demolition projects. They work as a subcontractor, so they're brought in to do the demolition work for major construction projects around the state. They partner with many of the big players in the industry like Big D, Oakland, Layton, Jacobsen and Hughes.
You see their work all the time and just don't know it. TID Demolition has been involved with construction of many buildings downtown. They helped with some of the demolition of City Creek Center as well as the Ogden LDS Temple, Salt Lake Community College and the Tribune Building. They've also done demolition work for hospitals and medical facilities along the Wasatch Front.
He says TID Demolition itself is a great success story. When he first bought his partnership, Guy was told, "You'd be lucky to do a million in a year." He not only grew the business from 6 employees to the current force of 65 but also grew the amount of business from around $200,000 to an average of $8 million each year.
One thing that distinguishes TID Demolition is the labor force Guy keeps on board. He has 65 employees who can do many types and sizes of jobs. This means when a big job comes in, he doesn't have to hire out because he's already has the trusted employee base to do the job.
