OREM, Utah — After serving the community for 45 years, Cascade Golf Center today announced that 2013 will be its final season of operation.

"It has been a great privilege to be a part of the Orem and Utah Valley business community," said owner Keven J. Stratton "We are very grateful to our neighbors and clientele for their support over these past 45 years. After much consideration, we have determined it is time to transition from the golf business and pursue other opportunities after this season."

Over the years Cascade has enjoyed hosting many community tournaments and annual events for Orem residents as well as Provo's Freedom Festival. Cascade has also hosted thousands of students from Orem High, Timpanogos, Mountain View, BYU and UVU.

"It has been a real treat to introduce generations to the game of golf," Stratton said. "We will sorely miss interacting daily with the wonderful patrons we have served and friends we have made at Cascade."

Cascade Golf Center first opened in May of 1968. A second-generation owner, Stratton purchased thegolf course in 1989 from his father and other partners. The construction and operation of the course hascontinuously been privately financed.

In the mid-90s, Stratton acquired the land to the north of the original course and later built the nine hole Mountain Course. During this same time, Cascade opened its two 18-hole miniature golf courses and an 18-hole natural-turf putting course.

The 53-acres owned jointly with Orem City, along with the majority of the 67 acres of privately-owned land that make up Cascade Golf Center are being sold
