(Ogden) - Kelsey McCann scored 9 points including the game winning 3-point shot as the Dixie Flyers defeat Region 9 rival Desert Hills to win the 3A Girls basketball state championship.

McCann's 3-point shot went in with 3.9 seconds left giving Dixie a 1-point lead. After McCann's shot Desert Hills quickly moved the ball up the court and Alyssa Tomlinson banked in a 3-point shot off the glass but it was waved off by the referees. Video shows that the ball was still in Tomlinson's hands as the light went off.

Desert Hills never led until Emily Seifert's steal and jumper gave the Thunder a 27-26 lead in the 4th quarter. The Thunder capped off a 12-2 run when Blair Bliss converted a three point play giving Desert Hills a four point lead with 2:32 left in regulation.

Dixie trailed by two when McCann made her third 3-point shot of the game giving Dixie their first state championship in Girls basketball.

Dixie was unranked and earned the 4th and final playoff berth in Region 9. They were swept by Desert Hills in region play.
