This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Recreation is a huge business in Utah. After all, annual traveler spending in Utah averages over $6 billion and the state welcomes around 20 million tourists per year. The Weller family has been tapping into Utah's rec scene for years now with their Kamas business, Weller Recreation.

Weller Recreation offers A/T/Vs and U/T/Vs, motorcycles and snowmobiles from BRP, Polaris, Ranger and Yamaha...

Company president Paul Weller said the recreational vehicles, particularly the U/T/Vs, have been a great addition to the business .... U/T/Vs have developed into a sport model which goes into the sand dunes and other trails, like the world-famous Slickrock biking trail, which welcomes around 100,000 visitors per year ... For work or for play, U/T/Vs deliver a different experience than A/T/Vs...In addition to A/T/Vs and U/T/Vs, Weller Recreation also has motorcycles, dirt bikes and snowmobiles — so everyone can find their favorite...

Adaptability has been one of the keys to Weller Recreation's success .... They've adapted their product line and business model to fit the changing demographics of the area..... That's why today the business continues operating strong, even after 50 years. At the company's founding in 1962, it made sense for Paul's dad, Jared Weller, to open the business as an automotive repair and farm equipment business. They sold Hesston Farm Equipment in the early 60s then took on Ski-Doo snowmobiles in 1968 to help with winter business when farming was quiet...

Life was very different in Utah then....At the time, there were over 50 dairy operations, so farming was a huge industry in Kamas... But slowly, times changed.....The farming industry shifted, so much so that, today, there are just two dairy farms left in the area... That's why Weller Recreation expanded into snowmobiles and beyond...While the farming industry was shrinking, the recreation industry began booming....In 2005, Weller left the farming end of the business completely....

Today, Weller Recreation is a family business in the truest sense... Paul is one of four family owners. The others include brothers Richard and Mike and sister Joan.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
