News ReleaseSalt Lake City, Dec. 1, 2008 -- Harmons is kicking off the holiday season with Gift Cards for Kindness, a contest that will reward people who demonstrate charitable qualities of personal sacrifice, generosity or caring for others. The public can nominate deserving individuals to receive $100 worth of national brand holiday gift cards or Harmons' own gift card -- available at all Harmons' stores. The contest runs from December 8 through 21.
Nomination forms are available at all Harmons' business centers and online at www.harmonsgrocery.com. Each Harmons store will review nominees and select a worthy person to receive $100 in gift cards. All $100 winners will be entered into a final competition for a chance to win the grand prize, a $300 Harmons' gift card good toward any products in Harmons' stores. Last year the locally-owned and operated grocery chain launched its own gift card that can be purchased in $25 and $50 denominations or loaded up to $500.
To make holiday shopping more convenient, Harmons also offers gift cards for nationally recognized retailers such as Cabela's, Pottery Barn®, Nordstrom, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Sears, Olive Garden®, SUBWAY, Bed Bath & Beyond®, phone service providers, major credit card companies and others.
"In this year, which has been especially difficult financially for so many, it is heart-warming to see people still helping each other in so many ways," said Bob Harmon, vice president for the customer at Harmons. "With this contest we want to reward those who don't ask for anything, but give nearly everything they have to others. We invite the community to nominate the selfless people they know for our Gift Cards for Kindness program."
Harmons will recognize and reward the winners before the holidays. All nominees and individuals who enter must be 18 years or older.
