SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) -- Tate Sorenson had 26 points and 10 rebounds as Southern Utah beat Cal Poly 61-53 on Saturday night.
Sorenson went 10-for-12 from the floor and 6-for-10 from the free-throw line as the Thunderbirds (3-10) avenged a 73-66 loss to the Mustangs (5-7) on Nov. 20.
Davis Baker added 15 points and Geoff Payne had 13 for Southern Utah.
Trae Clark led Cal Poly with 13 points and Titus Shelton had 11.
Cal Poly did not lead after the first three minutes, but pulled within two 42-40 with 10:24 to play after a dunk by Shelton.
The Mustangs were later within four 56-52 with 43 seconds to go following a jumper by Clark, but Southern Utah's Nurudeen Adepoju made a lay-up and the Thunderbirds went 3-for-4 from the line in the final seconds.
