Noelle Pikus-Pace of Orem finished in second place at the women's skeleton World Championships, which took place in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

"What a great day," Pikus-Pace said after the race. "I felt so much better today and I am excited to be on the medal stand. This has already been such an amazing year."

Pikus-Pace finished 0.57 seconds behind gold medal winner Shelley Rudman of Great Britain. Rudman won the first women's skeleton title for Great Britain with a cumulative time of 4:38.60.

Pikus-Pace had retired in 2010, but has made a comeback this season in the sport. So far, all she has done since returning is help her team claim gold, an accomplishment that has helped her raise her expectations.

"I was really focused on being consistent this season, and I've been on the podium for every race so far in 2013," Pikus-Pace said. "I'm really pleased with my results and I know I can be competitive with the best in the world. I've raised the bar for myself at this point and expect to be at the top."
