SALT LAKE CITY — It appears that Alex Smith has taken his last snap as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Niners will try to trade Smith after the Super Bowl.

Smith lost his starting job after receiving a concussion in the first half of a Nov. 11 matchup against St. Louis, only one week removed from being named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 18 of 19 for 232 yards and three touchdown performance against the Arizona Cardinals.

The former Utah quarterback and 2005 No. 1 NFL Draft pick has maintained a good relationship with the Niners throughout this ordeal, and if some time passes without any trades materializing, the team "will cut him sooner rather than later out of respect to Smith".

Smith was on track to have his best season as a pro quarterback, completing 70.2 percent of his passes and a 104.2 QB rating. However, his replacement, Colin Kaepernick, has a QB rating of 105.9, and with his superb showings against Green Bay and Atlanta in the playoffs, its hard to argue against the stellar young signal caller from Nevada.

A few teams that may be interested in Alex Smith are the Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals and possibly the Philadelphia Eagles according to Rapoport.

Speaking of former Utah No. 1 draft picks, basketball star Andrew Bogut found his way back on the court after missing the last 38 games to rehab his left ankle.

Bogut looked a bit rusty for the Golden State Warriors, but his presence was definitely felt on the court in a 114-102 win over the Toronto Raptors Monday night.

Bogut finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in just 24 minutes.

"It's been a long season for me so far, a frustrating season mentally and physically," Bogut told the Mercury News. "Just to be out there running up and down the court again, especially getting a win, it was very satisfying. ... Just excited to be out there and play basketball again. It has been a bumpy ride, but I think it's at a stage now where I am ready to progress."
