Zurich (dpa) - A court in Zurich has granted football's controlling body FIFA a provisional injunction against the publication and distribution of a book about the organisation.

The book Foul by Andrew Jennings was to be published at the beginning of May and Jennings said last week that it contained explosive material about the organisation outlining vote rigging during the FIFA presidential campaign of 1998, as well as numerous financial irregularities.

In a statement issued on Friday by FIFA the organisation said they were aware of the book, which FIFA said "basically reveals nothing new."

"FIFA therefore rejects the allegations having already commented on them in writing to the author on several occasions.

"As the book contains a number of false and libellous claims, FIFA applied for an injunction on the publication and distribution of the book as a precaution several months ago. The Zurich cantonal high court complied with this request by passing a provisional ruling on 26 April 2006."

Jennings is the only journalist considered "persona non grata" by the organisation and is refused accreditation for their competitions.
