This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Yngrid and Rosbitt Gonzalez are living proof that the American dream of owning one's own business can become a reality.

The couple immigrated to the United States from Venezuela 11 years ago. Yngrid had a background in civil design while Rosbitt's background was in industrial design. They worked for other companies for several years, aggressively saving money with the idea of eventually starting their own business. Eight years later the Gonzalezes saw their dream come to pass with the creation of American Granite Kitchens.

American Granite Kitchens is a granite fabrication company that specializes in high quality kitchen and bathroom countertops in granite, marble, travertine and limestone. Occasionally, they help customers with flooring or cabinets, but countertops are their specialty. The company recently moved into a new facility which provides more than 6,000 square feet of fabrication space.

The company is distinguished by the fair prices it offers, 10-day turnaround for countertop installation and true craftsmanship. Yngrid tells me that although she and Rosbitt have adopted American business practices, they still strive to bring their heritage into the business by making it more family-oriented. Customers often pick up on this tendency and respond well to it.

Yngrid says she and Rosbitt are a perfect match to run a business because she is a practical conservative while her husband is more of a dreamer. While he anticipates what he would like to see happen, she focuses on running the business right now. Along with their employees, they make a good team.

The philosophy at American Granite Kitchens is to keep customers happy. Yngrid says the business is distinguished not only for the quality work it provides at fair prices but also for its satisfied customers.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
