This week I had a terrific meal in a restaurant that offers great views to go along with its good food. It’s called Panini and it’s located in the Wells Fargo building downtown. And from the patio especially, diners are treated to spectacular cityscape views at Panini.
Not that the views aren’t impressive inside too – they are. Because Panini is a gorgeous restaurant with white marble floors, beautiful furnishings, and nice artwork on the walls. And the service at Panini is excellent too. But the main reason for visiting Panini is the contemporary Italian cuisine served there.
The soups at Panini are terrific and I really liked the rich, almost sweet butternut squash bisque I had. And a Friday lunch special of mustard crusted halibut was out of this world, not to mention an attractive looking dish, topped with a rainbow of slivered and fried shoestring-style vegetables.
I also like the linguine with meatballs and sausage at Panini. But these definitely aren’t your momma’s meatballs, that’s for sure. At Panini, Chef Alberto Perez makes his linguine and rich red sauce with meatballs and buffalo sausage from the buffalo ranch up at Medicine Lodge. But Chef Perez’ real forte is cooking fish and seafood, so I’d also strongly recommend Panini dishes like seafood in garlic cream sauce, caramelized fresh Alaskan salmon, or the chef’s Dover sole parmesan.
That’s Panini – good food, excellent service, and great views in a beautiful setting.
