Even though I’m not a mom, I also enjoy Mother’s Day for at least a couple of reasons. First, it’s a chance to show all the mothers in our lives how much we appreciate and worship them. Second, if you take mom out to dine on Mother’s Day it’s also an excuse to treat yourself to a great meal in a great restaurant.

For Mother’s Day this Sunday I’ve received information on a few special Mother’s Day celebrations. Up at Snowbasin ski resort, a Mother’s Day Sunday brunch will be held from 10 to 2 at Earl’s Lodge, with Tracy Hales at the piano for mom’s musical entertainment.

And then over in Midway, The Blue Boar Inn is also hosting a five-course Mother’s Day brunch with eclectic entrees for mom like lobster & fennel Benedict, tarragon & Dijon rubbed prime rib, herb-crusted salmon filets, and peppered New Zealand rack of lamb, not to mention Swedish-style pancakes and gourmet Mother’s Day dessert.

And then in addition to Mother’s Day brunch at Snowbasin and Midway, a little closer to home Log Haven restaurant up in Millcreek Canyon is offering mom a special Mother’s Day menu. Mother’s Day brunch at rustic and romantic Log Haven includes entrees such as honey-brined pork chops, pan roasted natural chicken, grilled Pacific Northwest salmon, and pan-seared top sirloin steak, along with lip-smacking desserts like strawberry-rhubarb tarts with vanilla cream and cheesecake with Meyer lemon sauce.

Well, whatever kind of special treat you have in store for your favorite mother this weekend be sure it includes a fabulous meal that SHE doesn’t have to cook!
