On Tuesday night I attended the 2006 Dining Awards hosted by Salt Lake Magazine. And while some of the award winners were predictable, others were not. Here's a rundown of some of the 2006 Salt Lake Magazine Dining Awards recipients.
Takashi won for Best Japanese, Royal India for Best Indian restaurant, Best Brewpub went to Squatters, Mazza took home the Best Middle Eastern award, and Best Chef went to Gastronomy's Will Pliler.
Park City restauranteur Bill White was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by Salt Lake Magazine for raising the dining bar in Utah with his fabulous restaurants Grappa, Chimayo, Wahso, Windy Ridge, and Ghidotti's.
Bambara won an award for having the Best Power Lunch, Caffe Molise won for Best Italian restaurant and the Hong Kong Tea House took the Best Chinese category.
Log Haven restaurant walked away with two awards: one for Best Restaurant Ambiance and another for being the Best Canyon restaurant in Utah. Another double award winner was Thai Garden, which took home awards for both Best Thai restaurant and Best New Restaurant.
Deer Valley Resort also doubled up with Letty Flatt winning Best Pastry Chef honors and Deer Valley's Kris Anderson receiving a special Golden Spoon Award for Excellence in Service and Hospitality.
And finally, in what might seem to some like an upset, the Best Restaurant of 2006 award went to Café Madrid.
Wait a minute! Where's the award for best 90 second radio food show?
