Tommy Murphy drove in a career high seven runs to help lead the Salt Lake Bees to an 11-8 win over the Portland Beavers on Tuesday afternoon. Salt Lake trailed 2-0 in the fifth when Murphy drilled a three run double into the left field corner. After Portland took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth, Murphy put the Bees back out in front with a three run homer in the sixth inning. He would cap off his four hit day with an RBI single in the eighth inning.
Brian Specht added three hits and three runs scored, including his first home run of the season, while Kendry Morales would chip in a two run homer. Erick Aybar would add two hits and three runs scored for the Bees, who took three out of four in the series at Portland. Matt Wilhite (1-1) would pitch one and one-third innings of scoreless relief for the win, while Jason Bulger worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save. Starter Chris Bootcheck struggled, as he gave up five runs on five hits with seven walks in just four and one-third innings.
